- You need it working this week. A subscription starts today; a build takes weeks.
- The team is small and the seat count is not going anywhere. Per-seat pricing only hurts once you scale.
Choose a custom build if
- You are bending your business to fit the tool, and every workaround has a person attached to it.
- You are paying for five tools that half-overlap, plus someone copying data between them.
- Per-seat pricing means growing the team is a punishment. A build costs the same at 5 users or 50.
- The feature you actually need has been “on the roadmap” for a year, and your business is not the vendor’s priority.
